With 136 guest lofts outfitted with 9 foot high ceilings, over-sized showers, state-of-the-art technology, modern amenities, and signature r & r beds, to sensory elements like our music, aroma and lighting programs, we create unique atmosphere and experiences that change from wake up call to last call. Each guest loft also features wireless internet access and plug and play, a one-stop connectivity solution for multiple electronic gadgetry such as PDA’s, cell phones, MP3 players and laptops – all linked to a large 42” flat panel HD televisions. Natural materials and textures like cork and wood are used to create a refreshing alternative to the same-old, same-old polyester and concrete hotel experience. All guest lofts come equipped with an in-loft safe and refrigerator.

Milan Patnaik is the new leader for the aloft talent team that is responsible for bringing the “new tWist in travel” to life. He has been in the hospitality business since 1994 and has overseen the hotel openings, transitions and acquisitions. For those who know him best, Milan’s tendency is to try to live nine lives simultaneously, striving to fit in each and every of life’s moments in to an already busy schedule. A true Libra, Milan is forever balancing the scales, changing his mind and weighing out the consequences before making a final decision. Born in Clearfield, Pennsylvania, and raised in Annandale, Virginia Milan lives a very culturally enriched life coming from an Indian heritage. He has always been the outdoors type, ever convincing his family and friends to enjoy camping in the Shenandoah Valley. In total he has gone on 100 plus camping trips and probably owns every piece of camping equipment made available. Fishing is another one of Milan’s favorite hobbies – biggest fish caught – a 4.5 feet long / 2 feet in girth Rockfish from Solomon’s Island, Maryland. His passion for fishing may drive his love for seafood: steamed crabs with Old Bay Season topping the list. When he is not watching the latest NFL story on ESPN, Milan is playing football, basketball, tennis or enjoying a leisurely motorcycle drive through Rappahannock County. Because of Milan’s passion for life’s total sensory experience, his on-the-go lifestyle harmonizes with the aloft vision of urban flair and social interplay.

My name is Becky Davis and I am thrilled to be the Director of Sales for this new hotel. From the second our General Manager, Milan Patnaik introduced me to the new aloft brand I was hooked and I am certain that all of our future guests will be as well.
After graduating from Penn State University in 2001, with a major in Hotel and Restaurant Management I worked for Marriott International as a Sales Manager for a hotel located just outside of Philadelphia. After two years I had no intention to leave Marriott, but I was presented with an opportunity to pursue a career with the American Heart Association as a corporate fundraiser. This is an organization that has always been close to my heart since my youngest sister has lived with heart disease her whole life. After a few years of successful fundraising, I had an itch to get back to my hospitality roots and start selling again! So here I am, back doing what I love to do - meeting new and interesting people and building strong relationships!
Of course in the world of hospitality, I'm constantly smiling and I can assure you that outside of work, I’m the same way. The alternative of not having a smile on my face isn’t a good one so I try to avoid it at all costs. I’ll put it to you this way, I’ve never had a bad day…I’ve only had bad moments. I enjoy playing tennis and golf (even though I’m still working on making contact with the little white ball), walking my adorable 1 year old black lab Griffin, traveling and baking (chocolate chip cookies or brownies are baked daily in my home). Above all, spending time with my family and friends is of utmost importance to me. In my family, I have 5-beautiful sisters and 7 nieces and nephews, so you can imagine how crazy my parent’s home is when we’re all together. We are all very close and I couldn’t imagine my life without their endless support.
All in all, I don’t know what it means to relax. Life is too short and I strive to live everyday to its fullest. That’s why I know that my endless liveliness is a great fit to the aloft brand. aloft is truly a place where energy flows, personalities mingle and opportunities abound – a place where anything can happen. William Chang – Operations Manager
My name is William Chang and I am the Operations Manager for the aloft dulles-north, opening in November 2008! Currently, I am a senior at Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration and I will graduate this May. I will spend my summer getting mentally prepared for the aloft experience before I come on board with Milan in the fall. Needless to say, I am extremely excited. If someone were to describe me, he/she would call me a global citizen and a free spirit with entrepreneurial direction. Ever since I was young, I have been exposed to international exposure, always thriving to immerse myself in diverse cultures. Being Malaysian Chinese, I have experienced racial melting pots through living in culturally rich countries like Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and of course the United States. Whether it is spending two weeks in a mountain school on the Thailand-Burma border, exploring the wine regions of Tuscany, or snapping photos of a sleeping lion in Kenya, my passion for traveling “wanderlust” has given me an international edge to provide service to world travelers in this culturally intimate industry. At the aloft dulles-north, I hope to transcend these diverse qualities to potential talent that fit the profile. Like Milan, I am a sports fan, supporting soccer and basketball teams like Newcastle United, Inter Milan, and the Boston Celtics. I am a musician, playing the guitar, the bass guitar, the drums, and the clarinet – I am a true rock n’ roll fan that has always been in musical groups and independent bands all my life. I support the independent music scene with ardent passion and would be happy to share my recorded demo tracks with you. My passion for music and traveling create a cultural infusion between creativity and environmental adaptability: this relationship is essential to creating an energetic working culture at the aloft dulles-north.
